MegaSporeBiotic is the 1st probiotic to PROTECT its human host. It features a probiotic blend of 5 Bacillus spores that have been clinically shown to maintain healthy gut barrier function and overall immunity. The bi-phasic life cycle of the Bacillus spores allows them to remain dormant in harsh environments until they reach more favorable environments like the human gastrointestinal tract. Once inside the large intestine, these dormant spores can change into their active, vegetative forms and begin colonizing in the gut. This unique probiotic blend aims to recondition the gut instead of reseeding with probiotic strains that cannot survive digestion or colonize the gut. MegaSporeBiotic has quickly become a household favorite among health practitioners and consumers alike.
Ingredients of MegaSpore, The Top Probiotics Supplement
MegaSporeBiotic contains 5 strains of Bacillus including: Bacillus subtilis HU58, Bacillus clausii SC-109, Bacillus coagulans SC-208, Bacillus indicus HU36, and Bacillus licheniformis SL-307. All 5 of these strains were originally isolated from a healthy human gut at Royal Holloway University of London by Simon Cutting. The “HU” in the strain number represents Holloway University, and the “SC” represents Simon Cutting. The original bacterial strains are kept in a bacteria bank at Royal Holloway University of London. When it is time for production, the bacteria are checked again for proper characterization and DNA-verified to be the correct strains. Those strains are shipped individually to a pharmaceutical-grade fermentation facility, where they are grown to the quantities required and then shocked back into their spore form for 100% spore delivery. MegaSpore also contains cellulose from acacia wood fiber that acts as a prebiotic for gut bacteria. The 5 spores and cellulose are encapsulated in a vegetarian capsule made of cellulose from pine trees and water.
The strains in MegaSporeBiotic can range in color from white or yellow in appearance to black or gray in color. When mixed together, capsules can contain black flecks or a yellow hue. The blended powder is completely natural and unbleached, so color variation is quite common from batch to batch. This product is routinely tested a minimum of 4 times before it reaches the end consumer. MegaSpore is a pure fermentation extract and with nature there is no color uniformity.
Why A Spore Based Probiotic Versus A Soil or Lactic Acid Based Probiotic?
There are three classes of probiotics. Lactic Acid Based, Soil Based and Spore Based. It’s important to understand that spore-forming probiotics can be a type of soil-based probiotic, meaning that some spore-forming bacteria are from the soil. This is why only some soil-based bacteria have the ability to colonize the gut, whereas all spore-forming probiotics have it. There is no crossover with lactic acid probiotics. Like soil-based probiotics, spore probiotics are highly resistant to harsh conditions, which means they can survive and grow in any environment. They can even resist antibiotics, whereas other types will likely be killed by antibiotics. This means they are much more likely to stay and colonize the gut, living there and helping to sweep out bad bacteria. They can also remain dormant in the gut for a long time, and then revive themselves when nutrients are present so we do recommend that you take MegaSporeBioitic with food.
MegaSporeBiotic is a very potent probiotic and we recommend starting very slowly with ½ or even ¼ capsule and slowly increasing to the target dose of 2 capsules per day for anyone over the age of 3 years old and 1 capsule per day for infants and toddlers. If the child appears to be sick or getting sick, you can increase to 2 capsules per day. The target dose of MegaSpore is not determined by weight or age but by the development of the gut microbiome, which is fully formed around 2.5 years of age.1
Start with ¼ or ½ capsule with food and slowly increase to 2 capsules per day using the following the protocol:
- Week 1: Take ½ capsule every other day
- Week 2: Take ½ capsule daily
- Week 3: Take 1 capsule daily
- Week 4+: Take 2 capsules daily
Note: MegaSporeBiotic is a very potent probiotic that can crowd out pathogenic bacteria and may therefore result in die-off symptoms. These symptoms include, but are not limited to: bloating, abdominal cramping, gas, changes in stools (drier, harder stools or loose, watery stools), temporarily worsening seasonal allergies, changes in energy levels, and more. MegaSpore is extremely effective at reconditioning the gut microbiome, and as a result, it is very common to feel the effects of this transition period. Please note that this change is positive and a sign that MegaSpore is working. Loose, watery stools are most common when starting MegaSporeBiotic, as the spores begin to crowd out pathogenic bacteria. As these pathogens die, they release a high concentration of toxins into the gut, which the body compensates for by increasing water retention in the intestines in order to flush these toxins out of the system.
This transition period should only last 3-4 days. If these mild die-off symptoms last longer than 5 days or are too intense, then your dose is likely too high and you are experiencing a strong die-off reaction. For the sake of comfort, you can decrease your dosage and continue at a slower pace, you can add Mega IgG2000 to help soak up the additional toxins, or you can power through the transition phase. Your titration depends entirely on you, your health goals, your medical history, your lifestyle, and your own preferences. As with any health recommendation, there is not one size that will fit every need. Consult your healthcare practitioner for an individualized treatment plan.
If ½ capsule every other day is too strong, try starting with ¼ capsule or just a pinch of the probiotic powder in some cases. Highly sensitive individuals may want to take with Mega IgG2000 from the start.
MegaSpore is safe and highly recommended during pregnancy and nursing. If the pregnant or nursing mother has severe inflammatory conditions or yeast issues, they should titrate up slowly to avoid a strong detox reaction.

About Microbiome Labs
The origin story of Microbiome Labs is a classic tale of forging new frontiers, complete with discovery, adversity, and a leap of faith. Neither founder set out on a path to start his own supplement company, but through persistent curiosity Dr. Tom Bayne and Microbiologist Kiran Krishnan stumbled upon an amazing opportunity.
With a rich background in research, Kiran noticed that many supplement companies were lacking sufficient clinical data, which inspired him to design trials that were more affordable and fitting for the supplement industry. He then expanded his skill set into product development and formulation for a number of retail supplement companies. Eventually he was hired to study probiotics and discover what would become the next big probiotic in the industry: Bacillus spores.
Before Kiran discovered the spores, Dr. Tom took a step back from supplement manufacturing and settled into his own chiropractic practice. As his practice began to blossom, he found himself on the forefront of Functional Medicine, uniquely focused on his patients’ gut health. For years, probiotics had proven so ineffective and inconsistent that he eventually quit using them in his practice altogether – that is, until he saw the research that Kiran had uncovered.
With Dr. Tom’s clinical expertise and Kiran’s probiotic research, the serendipitous pair formulated the first all-spore probiotic known as MegaSporeBiotic. After a great deal of clinical validation, the team set out to launch the product in the practitioner market by attending medical conferences.
In 2014, the company exhibited at only 6 conferences and signed on a handful of new accounts. However, as the product sales began to grow, the company chose to reallocate the majority of the profits back into research, with only a minimal amount leftover for marketing. This unorthodox approach is far and away what continues to set Microbiome Labs apart from the rest of the supplement industry.
In doing so, Microbiome Labs hopes to encourage other supplement companies to follow suit, thereby raising the bar of the supplement industry as a whole. In 2018, Microbiome Labs attended over 148 conferences, initiated and/or completed 14 clinical trials, and provided key solutions to thousands of practitioners, changing over 344,000 lives… and counting.
